New executive director named for Golden Apple Foundation

The Golden Apple Foundation has named Kristina Reuber its new executive director.

Reuber, the former youth programs director at La Voz Latina: Latino Community Resource Center, will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the non-profit organization and it's numerous fundraising initiatives. One such initiative is the signature Golden Apple Award Program, which honors teachers from 13 public school districts and 40 non-public schools in Winnebago and Boone counties.

The Loyola University graduate was deemed the perfect replacement for the executive director position vacated by Lori Berkes-Nelson, who held the job for the past decade.

"We were looking for someone who could inspire stakeholders, strengthen our volunteer base as well as enhance recognition and support for Golden Apple Foundation," said board president Tom Lasley. "We believe Kristina is the right person to build on the positive momentum and success we've had the past 10 years."

Reuber will start her new position June 18.

For more information, Reuber can be reached at 815-226-4180 or kdr@goldenappleofrockford.com.
